2000-2015

“Of all the arts, abstract painting is the most difficult. It demands that you know how to draw well, that you have a hightened sensativity for composition and for colors, and that you be a true poet. This last is essential.” -Kandinsky

“Ultimately, it is an argument between the “unperspectival, the perspectival, and the aperspectival” in life and the arts. The point is, that all three of them are operating at the same time, each supporting the other!” -Gebser

Finally, by the end of 1999, I decided to move back to a rectangular flat surface. This was a difficult time for me because I had financial issues and found that I needed to find work outside of my studio. I did that for several years and made far fewer pieces as a result.

What I did do, because I had limited time to work, was get involved with a theme and then allow that to play out until I would change. This was one of the first pieces I completed in this series and you can see that I was still not working in the rectangle.

Small Grey Lotus

These pieces felt somewhat quiet to me and although I now see them in the context of my own evolution, I did not see them that way when I was making them.

Intermezzio

Intermezzio-2012

As I began to explore what to me was a more personal space, one that the viewer could feel as though they were within the actual space, I found my palate changing as well.

Butterfly-2013

I fell in love with this piece as it somehow filled my heart. I suspect it was because it felt so fanciful and mystical to me.

Morning Aroma-2013

Some fun here.

Wheelhouse Gallery-2014
The Story of the Lost Chamber

After several years I was once more invited to show at a gallery. Just working in the studio, can motivate an artist to refocus and to use that space as a motivation for more growth. However, getting the work out there for people to interact with it, opens new doors! That is exactly what happened to me as I found myself exploring alternative spacial elements and a freer brush.

Collections-2015

I had been wanting to paint a piece where I could use white as the main area of the painting. I had not used white in any dominate way before and thought it might provide me with an alternative to my normal color themes.

Deep Within The Dark-2015

This paper piece was stumbling around in my mind for weeks and finally, as I was painting over another image, it just popped out!
