Searching For Calypso
48” x 60”
Oil/Canvas

Enthralled by her charms,
Odysseus searched across the mystical island,
from one lush green hill to the next cool crisp lake,
as wily Calypso hid.

Then as Odysseus, desire exhausted, bleary with love lost,
like a tiger she lept and cast her spell
completely enchanted he was,
as she seduced him endlessly.

For seven years Odysseus was hooked like a fish.
Finally, old Zeus-who understood
most likely more than most-
chided by his ever-persistent wife Hera,
forbade Calypso her love and she was reluctantly forced
to release the young hero Odysseus,
his body spent and soft, but his spirit intact!
