The Center Cannot Hold
36” x 48
Acrylic/Canvas

Our world stopped! Covid!
Cold darkness followed the daily news
as it would the refreshingly warm sun.
We were helpless, the weight of despair
pushing us down-Armageddon,
it seemed, had arrived.

The center cannot hold.

And once again, expectantly we look
to the east beyond darkness,
we fall to our knees
in search of truth,
a plea for redeeming comfort,
historically imprinted within our bones.

The center cannot hold.

Yet we must remember,
a true spiritus mundi
provides us with a center
always rich in a push and pull
that cannot hold, it being
an endless process of richness,
supported by love.
