This year was a strange year for me. Possibly because of those lost years dealing with COVID, and that my show originally scheduled for July 2020, was canceled 5 times until it opened in February 2022! However, the result proved to be worth the wait. I will be adding work to this folder as the year progresses with the desire that this new work will reflect my dedication to the process and to trying to do as well as I can with who I am. That may be the most essential thing I discovered over the last two years!

I have always tried to project a creative element that reflected how I felt about art and process. Being drawn to create does have its difficulties and the greatest one for me, has been trying to remain consistent with my personal view and to this incredible process of creating art. My work is about process, and within that process, I find my self. One of my admired contemporary artists, Charlene Von Heyl stated in an interview that, ”Representation goes beyond design via psychology and narrative. But to get there without depictions, without representational images, which I just see as words—that is really hard. It is the sweeter victory and more surprising in the end. But I’m not dogmatic about it. In the rare instance that images want to pop up, I let them. I just never put them in intentionally.”

This short statement reflects for me, the true process we encounter when creating and how important it is to hold to that special place. While most of us are not masters, we still have the responsibility to live by the high standards set by those that are great! We all share that responsibility for our craft!
